Very recently, we were fortunate to be able to photograph the wedding of Robyn and David Hala at a wonderful riverside venue: The Landing at Dockside.

One of the best things about meeting new couples is learning a little bit about them and finding out about how their journey has brought them to this point in their lives.

Not only is everyone’s story interesting, but as photographers it helps us put to things into context.

In fact – even as we’re photographing, we’re always actively taking part in a little bit of ‘people watching’ – taking everything in and building a little story in our heads of who is who and how they are important in terms of our couple.

Now, because we love a good story, we thought we’d share a little one of Robyn and David Hala… and how Robyn came to say “I do!”

The Proposal:

David planned a fairly elaborate proposal!

He booked a room at the Sofitel in Brisbane and told me to meet him there after work.

When I arrived, and we checked in, the manager said they were hosting a Christmas drinks party on the roof top and offered to take us up there before we went to our rooms…

…so that we would know how to get back up there later if we wished.

When we got up to the roof top there was no one else up there, just a red carpet and some champagne on ice.

David got down on one knee and proposed!

It was pretty amazing and I had no idea what was going on!
